Closely aligned with Project ICONIC is the research project Doing Diversity (DoDive), conducted at Erasmus University Rotterdam from 2023 to 2025. DoDive explored how organizations — including schools, cultural institutions, and sports associations — “do” diversity in their everyday professional practices. Using a comparative, cross-sectoral case study approach, the project examined paired institutions in Rotterdam North and South to gain insights into challenges around communication, staffing, and programming. The project emphasized practice-oriented learning through methods such as shadowing, co-creation, and Local Diversity Labs.

The project’s findings have been summarized in a Dutch research report, which links the insights back to the participating organizations. The report presents the most important outcomes from the DoDive project and highlights how different organizations handle challenges in the field of diversity through a cross-sectoral approach. Research was conducted in collaboration with six Rotterdam-based partner organizations.
